Introduction to Woodworking at Soulcraft Makerspace

Our Introduction to Woodworking course is the first step into the shop—and into a new way of seeing what you’re capable of.

This two-session class (each about 2.5 hours long) is designed for beginners. You’ll learn how to safely and confidently use the core tools in the shop, including the jointer, planer, cross-cut miter saw, table saw, and sanding/finishing equipment. Along the way, you’ll build your own cutting board or charcuterie board—a simple but satisfying project that introduces you to essential woodworking skills and techniques, from design and layout to glue-ups and surface prep.

But this course is about more than just tools and techniques. It’s about confidence. Agency. The sense that you can walk into a shop and know what to do. Whether you’re thinking about future projects or just want to try something new, this course is the perfect place to begin.

Classes are held weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 pm - 8:30 pm, and Saturday mornings from 11am - 1:30pm. Choose 2 out of 3 of these times to schedule your class. If these times don’t work for you, reach out—we’re happy to work with your schedule, whether you would like to book a one-on-one or small group (up to 4).

After you register, please email info@soulcraftmakerspace.org to schedule your first class.
