Our Introduction to Woodworking course is the first step into the shop and into a new way of seeing what you are capable of.
This two session class, about two and a half hours each, is designed for beginners. Students learn how to safely and confidently use the core tools in the shop, including the jointer, planer, crosscut miter saw, table saw, and sanding and finishing equipment. Along the way, they build their own cutting board or charcuterie board, a simple but satisfying project that introduces essential skills from design and layout to glue ups and surface prep.
More than a list of tools, this course is about confidence and agency the feeling that you can walk into a shop and know what to do. Whether they go on to build furniture or simply wanted to try something new, this is the perfect place to begin.
Classes are offered weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8:30 in the evening and on Saturday mornings from 11 to 1:30. If those times do not work, reach out and we will do our best to find a time that does.
After you purchase this class as a gift, please email info@soulcraftmakerspace.org to receive the certificate and to help your recipient schedule their first session.
