In this fast-paced woodworking design challenge, students begin with a single board and a simple question: What needs held? Through a guided exploration of form and function, participants identify a real-world problem, sketch a solution, and transform raw wood into a custom object designed to hold something important to them. Using woodworking tools, dowel joinery, and basic design principles, students learn how makers turn ideas into useful objects while developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and confidence in the shop. Every student leaves with a finished project they designed and built themselves.
